Woven Legacies: Obeetee’s First Flagship Store Blends Craft, Culture, and Contemporary Design

Marking a momentous chapter in its century-old journey, Obeetee, one of India’s most esteemed carpet houses, unveils its very first retail identity in a flagship store that is as storied as the brand itself. With roots tracing back over 100 years to the historic weaving district of Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, Obeetee shares its origin story with the heritage Makaibari tea estates, creating a rare lineage of Indian luxury that threads together texture, taste, and tradition.

The store is a tactile, sensorial tribute to craftsmanship. More than a showroom, the space is a living gallery—where age-old artisanal practices meet the innovations of modern retail. Projection mapping and micro-interior settings allow visitors to envision Obeetee’s handwoven masterpieces in diverse spatial contexts, transforming passive browsing into immersive storytelling. A distinct Architect’s Studio forms the heart of the store—designed as a collaborative enclave where designers and clients can conceptualize spaces in real time, supported by swatches, samples, and mood boards.

This isn’t just a retail space—it’s hospitality reimagined. A curated tea room, an homage to the brand’s Makaibari heritage, and a bespoke bar cart invite visitors to slow down, sip, and settle into the layered world of Obeetee. Natural materials, warm lighting, and subtle nods to the Indian vernacular elevate the ambience, ensuring that every detail—like every weave—tells a story of precision, legacy, and luxury.

With this debut flagship, Obeetee transcends commerce to become an experience: a space where the past is proudly displayed, the present is artfully considered, and the future of Indian design is thoughtfully imagined—one rug at a time.
